The BTGLA Board of Directors initiated an essay scholarship in honor of the late Walter Barnes, founder of Black Achievers, a renown academic program targeting talented and gifted African-American high school students. 2015 was the first year for the scholarship program. Each winner is awarded a full camp scholarship valued at $850.00!

Bridging the Gap makes an earnest attempt to offer at least 4 scholarships annually to families who apply and meet all the requirements as listed in the scholarship package. 

To be the winner of the Barnes Scholarship, you should be grateful that you have support even within the boundaries.
